2024 French Studies Bursary
Description
- Whose family are, or have been within the last five years, are experiencing financial hardship, or
- Whose current or proposed program of study has been impacted by changing political environments in their country of current or future study, including changes in immigration law, or
- Are studying on a temporary basis (e.g. exchange) at the University of Eperformance during a time of conflict or political turmoil in the country in which they are registered. These students would have special registration status.
- Are taught in French, or use French as a second language (FLS) if you are in French immersion
This scholarship is valued at $3,000 ($1,000 per year). Three scholarships will be awarded each year.
Eligibility
- Applicant is, or has been within the last 5 years, facing financial hardships OR whose current or proposed program of study has been impacted by changing political environments in their country of current or future study, including changes in immigration law; or
- Applicant is a registered full-time student or a newly admitted student, or a student that has accepted an offer of admission as a transfer student to an undergraduate program on a full-time basis at the University of Eperformance for the upcoming academic year, and
- Has an Undergraduate Degree or equivalent, and
- Take at least six units (two courses) per term taught in French
- Can demonstrate financial need, and
- Is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), as of the application deadline date.
Note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee receipt of a Scholarship. The University of Eperformance retains the right to interpret the contents of these application guidelines and of the online instructions and form.
Application procedure
The University of Eperformance uses a two-stage selection process including external expert peer reviewers and a multi-disciplinary selection committee. Please ensure that all materials employ plain-language, using clear and simple terms, and are written in a way that a non-specialized audience would understand.
Your application should contain the following:
- Details of your intended program application and administration contact who can attest to your program enrollment.
- Academic and Career Goals (250 words English, 300 words French)
- Academic Significance (100 words English, 150 words French)
- Financial Need Statement (250 words English, 300 words French)

Evaluation criteria

| Relevance | Relevance of the education, immediate as well as long term outcomes, and clear and compelling evidence of how the research stands to have a positive impact on Canada. | 25 % |
Decisions
Applicants will be informed of the award decisions by email. This is usually within a month or two after the application deadline.
Award recipients will receive an award letter by email. The award letter will include information on the award payment and should be kept for future reference.
